SUMMARY:Beyond the Mission: The Economic Power of Los Angeles County's Nonprofits
DESCRIPTION:About This Webinar\nWhat if we looked at Los Angeles County’s nonprofit sector not just as a collection of mission-driven organizations\, but as an economic force? \nA new report from the Center for Nonprofit Management (CNM) and the Los Angeles Economic Development Corporation (LAEDC) Institute for Applied Economics offers a different view. Drawing on IRS Form 990 filings\, Bureau of Labor Statistics data\, and input-output modeling\, the report examines 27\,916 active nonprofit organizations across Los Angeles County and measures the sector’s contributions to employment\, economic output\, labor income\, and public revenue. \nThe findings make the scale of the sector clear: nonprofits contribute approximately $185.6 billion in economic output\, support an estimated 1.16 million jobs\, and generate approximately $28 billion in federal\, state\, and local tax revenue each year. \nJoin CNM and LAEDC for a one-hour webinar exploring what these findings tell us about the nonprofit sector as an essential part of Los Angeles County’s economy—and what this means for nonprofit leaders\, funders\, policymakers\, businesses\, and communities. \n  \nParticipants will:\n\nUnderstand how the nonprofit sector compares to other major industries in Los Angeles County.\nExplore the economic impact nonprofits generate through jobs\, wages\, business activity\, and supply chains.\nLearn about the workforce and organizational characteristics that shape the sector\, including the fact that 90% of nonprofit organizations operate with annual income below $1 million.\nExamine the role nonprofits play in strengthening communities and contributing to regional quality of life.\nConsider what it means to recognize the nonprofit sector as an important economic cluster and what that could mean for regional economic strategy\, philanthropy\, and nonprofit organizations.\nExplore why a stronger understanding of the nonprofit sector matters for policymakers\, funders\, business leaders\, and other community stakeholders.\n\n  \nWho Should Attend:\nNonprofit executives and leaders\, philanthropic and funding organizations\, public-sector leaders\, business leaders\, researchers\, nonprofit association and network leaders\, and community stakeholders interested in the economic and social impact of the nonprofit sector are encouraged to attend. \n  \nRegistration Fee\nThis event is offered at no charge. Registration is required.
