About this Seminar
Coalitions are fundamental to creating lasting change on the systemic and policy levels. Coalition work establishes effective and lasting partnerships that enhance collective and purpose-driven objectives. If you are a member, leader, representative, or funder of a coalition, this workshop will help you gain skills and tools that enhance the impact of your coalition work and to do so through an equity lens.
Topics Include:
- Purpose of coalition work
- Overarching values for effective, equity-focused, purpose-driven coalitions
- Aligning your goals with the coalition’s goals
- Relationship and trust-building—how to do it and why it’s so critical to success
- Coalition evaluation and why it matters
Who Should Attend: This program is designed for nonprofit leaders involved in coalitions and organizations planning to join a coalition.

Virtual Certificate
Optimized for the virtual environment, this 4-session certificate program will consist of presentations, group discussions, breakout group sessions, polls and short breaks. This is an opportunity to do a deep dive on a new topic and leave with tools that you can put in to practice immediately.
Instructor
Maya Paley – Consultant and Leadership Coach
Maya is a social impact consultant, leadership coach, and justice and equity advocate. As Managing Consultant of Cities and People Advisors, she focuses on strategic learning, equitable evaluation, and deep equity and movement-building work with foundations, organizations, and government agencies. Some of Maya’s recent clients include the Alameda County Breastfeeding Coalition, ACLU California Action, and the CA Work & Family Coalition. In her non-work time, Maya loves to write, read, think, nap, eat tons of chocolate, drink extra hot chai lattes, and eat and play with family and friends.
