About this Seminar

Coalitions are fundamental to creating lasting change on the systemic and policy levels. Coalition work establishes effective and lasting partnerships that enhance collective and purpose-driven objectives. If you are a member, leader, representative, or funder of a coalition, this workshop will help you gain skills and tools that enhance the impact of your coalition work and to do so through an equity lens.

Topics Include:

  • Purpose of coalition work
  • Overarching values for effective, equity-focused, purpose-driven coalitions
  • Aligning your goals with the coalition’s goals
  • Relationship and trust-building—how to do it and why it’s so critical to success
  • Coalition evaluation and why it matters

Who Should Attend: This program is designed for nonprofit leaders involved in coalitions and organizations planning to join a coalition.

Virtual Certificate

Optimized for the virtual environment, this 4-session certificate program will consist of presentations, group discussions, breakout group sessions, polls and short breaks. This is an opportunity to do a deep dive on a new topic and leave with tools that you can put in to practice immediately.

Instructor

Maya Paley

A nonprofit professional and social justice advocate, Maya is passionate about making community engagement, advocacy, and leadership accessible and doable. She recently served as the Senior Director and Co-founder of Change the Talk for the National Council of Jewish Women, Los Angeles, which she grew into a program with 250 teen volunteers As NCJW|LA’s Director of Advocacy and Community Engagement, she was responsible for the organization’s advocacy and policy agenda, recruiting and training hundreds of volunteers to advocate priority bills and to conduct outreach and its work addressing human trafficking in LA County. With a B.A. from UC Berkeley and an M.A. in International Affairs from Columbia, she has been honored with an Outstanding Woman Leader award by the City of Santa Monica and a Women in Leadership award by the City of West Hollywood. Maya consults with nonprofits about growth, program development and evaluation, policy advocacy, stakeholder engagement, strategic planning, and more.
