Leading Organizations Join Forces to Study Compensation and Workforce Trends for one of Southern California’s largest employers—The Nonprofit Sector.

PRESS RELEASE

LOS ANGELES, CA – April 22, 2026The Center for Nonprofit Management (CNM) and Envision Consulting have joined forces to study the current state of employment affairs in Southern California’s most consequential industries—The Nonprofit Sector.
The Southern California Nonprofit Workplace Report (SNWR) will provide in depth analysis of compensation, benefits, and workforce conditions across the region’s nonprofit sector.

The Nonprofit sector plays a critical safety net role throughout the region. In some parts of the region, like LA County, the sector is a major employer. Over the past two years, the sector has been in a state of strain and contraction due to a set of overlapping crises
that have impacted the funding available to capitalize the sector.

The report will analyze data from both nonprofit employees and nonprofit organizations, offering a detailed look at pay benchmarks, employment trends, and the evolving needs of Southern California’s nonprofit workforce. The report will also explore broader sector-
wide issues including funding stability, staffing challenges, and the growing adoption of AI tools within nonprofit operations.

“We are thrilled to partner with CNM to bring new clarity and transparency to the nonprofit workforce in Southern California,” said Allison Fuller, Co-Founder and Managing Partner, Envision Consulting. “This report will provide leaders, employees, and policymakers with critical data to make informed decisions about compensation, staffing, and organizational sustainability.”

“This partnership represents a major step toward understanding how our region’s nonprofit organizations—and the people who power them—are faring in today’s rapidly shifting landscape,” said Efrain Escobedo, President & CEO, Center for Nonprofit Management. “People are our greatest asset in the social impact sector. Protecting the sector requires protecting our workforce. This partnership will develop the data to not only understand the current environment but, also advocate for a future workforce that can live with dignity and a pathway to economic mobility,” added Escobedo.

Designed for nonprofit executives, HR leaders, funders, lawmakers, and individual nonprofit employees, SNWR26 will serve as a vital tool for understanding compensation equity, workforce trends, and how organizations and employees are adapting to recent disruptions, including the 2025 Los Angeles fires, federal funding changes, and shifts in immigration policy affecting the social impact sector.
