Jai.New .Hire 02 Welcome, Jai Phillips!

At CNM, we believe that thriving nonprofits are the cornerstone of a healthy, equitable society. That’s why we’re investing in bold leadership to strengthen the social impact sector, especially in times of crisis and uncertainty.

We’re proud to welcome Jai Phillips as our new Senior Director of Special Initiatives. In this role, Jai will lead CNM’s Nonprofit Recovery Initiative to support organizations affected by recent wildfires across California, while also helping shape our response to emerging issues, including how changes in the political environment could impact the social impact sector.

Jai brings nearly 20 years of experience driving equity, community development, and systems-level change across Los Angeles. His leadership at the California Community Foundation, particularly through the Black Empowerment Fund, Ready to Rise, and BLOOM Alliance, has advanced culturally responsive, community-led solutions and stewarded over $60 million in funding to nonprofits working on the front lines.

A lifelong South LA resident, Jai is known for building trust, deepening partnerships, and scaling programs that dismantle racial disparities and empower youth and families. His strategic insight, lived experience, and unwavering commitment to justice make him a powerful addition to CNM’s leadership team.

We’re excited to have Jai help lead CNM’s efforts to uplift the organizations that support our communities!
