About this Seminar

Supervising people presents challenges as well as opportunities for growth. This seminar is designed for both new and experienced nonprofit supervisors and those who have had no formal training for their role. In this two-session class, you’ll sharpen your skills to better plan and prioritize, communicate with and motivate your staff, and network and learn from other supervisors. Come away with new approaches for working with your team to best accomplish your goals.

Topics Include:

  • Role of the supervisor
  • Managing relationships, coming from peers
  • Setting priorities and expectations
  • Navigating the changing workplace
  • Supervising employees remotely and hybrid
  • Communication styles

Who Should Attend: This seminar is designed for Nonprofit Supervisors, Directors, Managers, and other nonprofit leaders at all levels of experience.

This program meets on the following Tuesdays from 9:00am to 12:00pm:

Virtual Seminar

Optimized for the virtual environment, this two day (½ days) seminar will consist of presentations, group discussions, breakout group sessions, polls and short breaks. This is an opportunity to do a deep dive on a new topic and leave with tools that you can put in to practice immediately.

Instructor

Patricia Navarro – Learning & Events Manager, Center for Nonprofit Management

Patricia brings to CNM more than 15 years of experience supporting the nonprofit community. Her passion to empower people by helping them to learn and grow has been what drives her in the different roles she has played. Patricia has coordinated and managed trainings, events, and conferences; she has coached adult learners and managers; and she has facilitated trainings for volunteers and clients – all of which she has conducted in both English and Spanish. At CNM, Patricia oversees certification programs, administration of scholarship grants, and customized trainings. She is a key part of the team that coordinates CNM’s seminars, workshops, events, and the 501(c)onference. She holds a B.S. from ITESM, a prestigious university in Mexico, and is a Certified Coach by Goldvarg Consulting Group (an ICF accredited program).

Leslie Robin – Senior Strategist, Center for Nonprofit Management

Leslie has over 30 year of experience in the nonprofit philanthropic field at the local and national levels, fostering change and meeting social and community needs through strategic planning, leadership training and organizational development. At CNM Leslie provides leadership training, facilitation and consulting to a wide range on nonprofit organizations. She served as Organizational Development and Management Adjunct Faculty at Hebrew Union College, Los Angeles, and School of Jewish Nonprofit Management. Leslie also has ten years of experience as an Urban Planner. She has a Masters degree in Urban Planning from the School of Public Administration at New York University and a Bachelor degree from the School of Business Administration at the University of California at Berkeley.
