Known for leveraging public and private assets to achieve ambitious goals; Regina Birdsell has, for more than 30 years, collaborated with business, philanthropy, government, media, and the nonprofit sector to address complex problems and drive positive change. Since coming to CNM in 2006, she has led the development of innovative programs to build the management skills of those who work for the public good, especially Southern California’s nonprofit organizations. Regina began her career at KABC Eyewitness News, then served as press secretary for California’s attorney general, built the department of public affairs at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, directed the New Los Angeles Marketing Partnership with Mayor Richard Riordan and hundreds of stakeholder companies, and, after being appointed by California’s governor, led the Public Utilities Commission’s Office of Ratepayer Advocates. A graduate of USC with a B.A. in Journalism and a Master’s in Social Work and Public Administration, she has been honored by the Los Angeles Business Journal as a Most Admired CEO and named to its list of Women Making a Difference.
